Skills

The subject matter of desktop support includes in depth knowledge of the Microsoft Operating Systems, as well as hardware and software troubleshooting skills. Desktop Support will install, configure and provide overall desktop services. He/she provides day-to-day onsite support for networked systems, hardware and the related infrastructure as well as analyzes problems, and monitors the environment to ensure its availability.

Desktop Support will monitor and adjust the performance of desktops/laptops/iGels and associated appliances as well as continually survey the infrastructure to determine future capacity needs. Troubleshoot problems reported by users and by automated monitoring systems and make recommendations for enhancements in the implementation of future initiatives. Provide technical assistance, support, and advice to customers and internal users.

Duties of Desktop Support

PC user support, new hire systems setups, and desktop/laptop software evaluations and upgrades

Provides quick response and maximum uptime for all users and performs end user training when necessary

Installs and repairs microcomputer hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, scanners, and disk drives

Assists in determining suitable software to meet user requirements

Troubleshoots software and hardware failures and identifies network problems when they relate to personal computers

Sets up and maintains user accounts found under domains managed by the HPI group.

Assist SBUs in major projects that involve desktop, such as moving to a new office or supporting development team in software upgrades.

Support Security team in major security patching and updates that can t be handled by automated tools and need hands-on assistance.

May require PC system experience in a LAN environment, strong understanding of Windows operating systems, experience with all Microsoft Office products as well as troubleshooting experience and understanding of e-mail

Provides technical on-site maintenance and support for new and existing systems

Provides technical maintenance and support for WAH users. This includes support for VPN accounts and remote software.

This job may include any aspect of field support, and is not limited to system hardware and software, PC s, and IP networking

Provides 24x7 support for desktop/laptop/iGel equipment that may affect TAT in the production environment.

Assign (team leaders) and accept (engineers) daily tickets & tasks and provide journal updates

Assign Category and Subcategory codes to all closed tickets

Desktop Responsibility:

Antivirus

Verify Antivirus is installed, OAS enabled, and receiving updates

Patching

Verify machines are patched with recent patches

Image builds

Make sure we have the latest images up to date

Encryption

Make sure information found in equipment is secured via PGP hard drive encryption.

iGel

Make sure iGel is getting proper profile so that end-user can perform daily duties.
