The Department Manager will oversee a staff of engineers and technicians to provide a significant suite of existing clients with geotechnical, geological, construction and materials engineering services. Existing clients include municipal state and federal government, institutional, healthcare, major commercial and industrial entities. AMEC supports some of the largest regional geotechnical clients and projects demanding outstanding quality of services. This is an opportunity to join an energetic management team in a growing office and region of over 130 employees with a wide diversity of services and clients. AMEC Earth & Environmental includes over 3,000 people worldwide with about 1,300 people in almost 60 offices across the United States. Geotechnical engineering and construction materials engineering are key service lines to AMEC and this position will play a significant role in their growth in the midwest. ResponsibilitiesManage, mentor and develop an existing staff of approximately 25. Profit and loss for the department. Identify and market new clients and business markets. Lead and contribute to business development efforts by assisting in proposal development and marketing activities. Identify and recruit staff for new projects and clients. Provide technical oversight for geotechnical and/or materials engineering projects including compliance and technical excellence. Prepare and review project cost proposals. Work cooperatively with other AMEC offices in the US and worldwide. Provide business metric reports and projections.Knowledge/Experience Minimum 10 years experience with 5 years management experience. Bachelor s degree in engineering; Masters degree preferred Proven leadership skills with multi-disciplinary staff. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment. Excellent oral and written English communication skills. Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills.
