Job Description

Reporting to the vice-president of retail systems, the incumbent is responsible for defining and maintaining the road map/strategy for all retail sales solutions. He/she will be involved in determining the technological target, and will ensure the cohesiveness of resulting initiatives. Together with his/her team, the senior manager must make sure that the following activities are accomplished:

  • Development of the IT system infrastructure of ±600 pharmacies

  • Supplier performance review
  • Business unit satisfaction with the handling of queries

  • Development of the service catalogue
  • Solution-targeted unit cost optimization strategies



Furthermore, the incumbent is responsible for monitoring solutions in partnership with suppliers, business units and members in the interest of improving consumer experience.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Be involved in determining the technological target for retail sales solutions, through collaborative effort

  • Define and maintain the road map/strategies for all retail sales solutions

  • Ensure the cohesiveness of initiatives

  • Solution monitoring:
    • Identify ways of reducing retail-sale solution costs, in partnership with suppliers, business units and members

    • Solution benchmarking versus competition

    • Must be on the lookout for technological developments in retail sales, consumer experience

    • Review the service and financial attachments as part of the tendering process, through collaborative effort

  • Develop close relations with members and improve his/her reputation among members through his/her credibility, listening skills and achievements

  • In terms of requests for change:
    • Represent members in their contacts with business units and suppliers

    • Represent business units in their contacts with suppliers

    • Ensure optimal use of solutions

  • Be in charge of the Technological Advisory Committee
  • Be involved in reviewing supplier performance
  • Ensure queries are handled in accordance with the agreed process and within a reasonable time frame

  • Ensure business units are satisfied when a new department is set up
  • Responsible for developing the service catalogue
  • Define solution-targeted unit cost optimization strategies (TCO)
  • Manage the development of the IT system infrastructure of ±600 pharmacies

  • Manage team resource capacity

  • Budget management (annual and ad-hoc):
    • Determine resource requirements

  • Establish KPI's and maintain a team dashboard to ensure that targets are met

    • 5 to 7 years' experience in retail solutions
    • 3 to 7 years' experience in pharmacy solutions
    • 3 to 5 years' experience in application development

    • 3 to 5 years' experience in computer networking and office automation

    • IT security (basic knowledge)

  • 1 to 3 years' experience in supervisory management of supplier deliveries (delegation)

  • 3 to 5 years' experience in contract negotiation (tenders)

  • Knowledge of the pharmacy business model
  • Knowledge in digital transformation
