We have an exciting newly created role within the Intellectual Property (IP) team based in London. The role provides a fantastic opportunity to work on a global portfolio of brands, content and products across a variety of NBCUniversal International businesses in the creation, management, exploitation, protection and enforcement of IP rights. Working closely with IP colleagues in LA, this is suited to anyone interested in IP law and gaining considerable experience of working in the entertainment industry.

Reporting to the Director – Intellectual Property, Legal & Business Affairs we are looking for an experienced junior Intellectual Property Counsel.


• Advise NBCU businesses on day-to-day issues relating to mark use, selection, infringement and enforcement of NBCU IP rights
• Assist in the management and development of the global trademark portfolio for NBCU properties
• Assist with clearance of UK and international trademarks and titles
• Direct outside counsel on clearance, prosecution and enforcement in foreign jurisdictions
• Review watch notices , advise on the merits of opposition and assist with UK and foreign oppositions
• Assist in the management of the NBCU global anti-counterfeiting programme
• Draft IP related documents such as consents, coexistence agreements, licensing agreements, witness statements, take down notices, cease and desist letters
• Advise on contractual issues relating to IP and assist with due diligence
• Undertake legal research
• Attend various external law enforcement and industry meetings on behalf of NBCU
• Provide NBCU businesses with updates, create and deliver internal and external IP education and training programmes
• Assist with supervision and professional development of the IP intern

Qualifications/Requirements Basic Qualifications:

• Some experience of contentious and non-contentious IP law with particular knowledge of UK and EU IP law and rules of practice
• Some experience of drafting agreements and cease and desist letters
• Some experience of handling anti counterfeit matters
• Familiarity with a variety of online public and proprietary legal databases (e.g. EUIPO website, PLC, Lexis Nexis, Saegis, WebTMS etc.)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
• Entertainment industry experience and/or previous in-house work experience preferable
• Some knowledge and/or exposure to International IP law
• Familiarity with social media applications
